My life with photography started when I was about three years old. My dad handed me a camera, asked me to take a picture of him and my mom. Like most kids, I believed a camera was a super cool toy, I loved playing with it, pressing the shutter and record anything that I see through the viewfinder. It's like life is being recorded for the moments that will never come back. My dad bought me my first 35mm camera when I was six years old. I loved it so much and wanted to take pictures whenever I could, but my family did not have the extra money to develop the pictures. So my hobby was put on hold, until I started high school and enrolled in a three years program in visual art. I have learned the basic photography skills, basic photography terminology like F-stop and shutter speed, how to develop pictures and worked in the dark room, with my $135 full manual camera from a local flea market. Fast forward to my junior year in high school, I saved enough money from my part time job and bought my very first Pentax SLR for $800 in 1996.

My life with my camera was put on hold for the second time during my college and graduate school years. Life in UCLA was busy, so as USC. I barely had time to anything besides school and my part time job, and I was absolutely broke from the USC tuition and room and board. I did promised myself when I graduated from USC, I would spend time to enjoy my life, buy myself a decent digital camera and go travel with it.

I never thought of making photography my second career, until I was engaged and started looking for a wedding photographer. I mainly photographed landscapes before but I absolutely loved the idea of capturing the moment of joy in weddings and creating stunning artwork behind the camera. To me, it's an honor to witness the weddings that I have photographed. Capturing these special moments are a new passion for me since each wedding is different in its own way. I tend to use different technique and different lightings based on each location and individuals.

In a nutshell, this is how Jessie Cho Photography started. I specialize in photojournalistic style with a touch of artistry. The business was officially established in 2007. In that short period of time, my work has been voted as Reader's Choice by Pacific Wedding Magazine in Summer 2009. We are based in San Francisco Bay Area, but will travel anywhere in the universe to capture those special moments.
